Fernanda Porto, is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Also known as 'the voice of Brazilian drum'n'bass', Fernanda composed and recorded the killer dancefloor smash Sambassim, which alongwith a remix with hotshot DJ Patife, was one of the highest selling drum'n'bass singles of 2001 (almost 50,000 copies sold to date) and at the top of of every selector's chart worth his salt.

"So Tinha de Ser Com Voce", Fernanda Porto's cover of a Tom Jobim classic, which she reworked with DJ Marky amongst others, was featured on Movement's Brazilian Job compilation and lead to her performing a string of live gigs, from Cargo in London - to singing at festivals alongside the likes of Reprazent and Kosheen around the world...

But it's obvious Fernanda Porto is a whole lot more than a muse for drum'n'bass. In fact, her determination in single-handedly composing, producing and playing the instruments on this first album is a tribute to her original musicality and uniqueness. Classically trained in music at the University of Sao Paulo, Fernanda was one of the most respected students of eletro-acoustic music and the electronic vertents of Varese and Stockhausen. She then went on to establish herself in earnest, composing the scores of a number of award-winning Brazilian films and later touring a live electronic band called Conex㯠Midi with the late Suba (Sao Paulo Confessions, Tibuto).

"Fernanda simply brought light into my life" recalls Patife. "After the Sambassim remix, everything kicked off for me." Well make no doubt about it, things are about to kick off for Fernanda Porto!

Review of Fernanda Porto	5	Energetic, multi-layered, multi-dimensional feel good album. Classic without being dated. Modern without being too trendy. Fernanda's talent as composer, musician and vocalist looms large. These songs haven't left my minidisc player since downloading! If only I'd studied Portuguese instead of French....
Fantastic	5	One knockout song after another. The slow songs are heavenly ("Electricidade", "O Amor N�o Cala", etc) and among the faster ones, "Tudo de Bom" is a kicker and "1999" is original and unique... So it's just a fantastic collection.
